BSI has been working on a new standard to cover the use of football goal posts, this new standard EN16579 is due to be introduced to the UK by the end of June 2018. Edwards sports and Huck Nets have been working closely with the FA, Sapca and the FSPA to bring all the changes needed into our goal posts designs. We hope to have all these amendments made and new goals tested as soon as there is a test house certified by the appropriate trade bodies to perform the testing. EN16579 biggest change is the introductions of restrictions of channels and openings to prevent finger traps and head traps. It is being introduced to improve the existing standards however if your goals conform to BS EN 8462 they are still considered safe to use and do not need to be replaced immediately for safety reasons. If you have any questions about standards then please do not hesitate to contact us and speak to one of our experts.
