What Time Will the Wimbledon Final Take Place?

The men’s final, which is the one that most people think of when they talk about the Wimbledon Final, takes place at 2pm and is broadcast live.

Other finals are held at different times, depending on where they are being held. Wimbledon has a Centre Court, where the main finals are played, and these are staggered because there’s only one court.

For other games, which aren’t played on the Centre Court, there are several outside courts, which all start play at 11am. These games aren’t all broadcast live on terrestrial BBC TV, but you can usually see them online or on a catch-up service slightly later.

As such, you’ll be able to see the games live or soon afterwards.

Where Does the Final Take Place?

The men’s singles final is held at the Centre Court of Wimbledon, one of the oldest and most prestigious tennis arenas in the UK.

The Centre Court has a seating capacity of 14,979, including a Royal Box that seats 74, and the men’s singles final is usually a sold-out event.

The stands are packed with some of the biggest names in the sporting and popular culture worlds, as well as lucky members of the public who are able to get tickets.

The final can be viewed live on the BBC and then streamed on catch-up services in the UK and around the world, so tennis fans from anywhere can enjoy this stunning exhibition of tennis prowess.

Who is the Favourite to Win the Men's and Women's Wimbledon Finals?

Every year tennis fans speculate on who will win Wimbledon, and these predictions don’t always come true. Sometimes, complete unknowns get further than expected, while other times, the fan favourites win as expected.

Currently, the highest odds given for the men’s singles winner in 2023 are for Novak Djokovic, which isn’t surprising when you consider that he’s the Number 2 tennis player in the world. Alongside him, with the highest odds, are Carlo Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev.

For the women’s singles tournament, the highest odds have been given to Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, Aryna Sabalenka and Petra Kvitova.

These are the players that have the highest odds so far, but things change quickly in a fast-paced tennis tournament like this, so there are plenty of opportunities for change going forward.

Can You Still Buy Tickets for the 2023 Wimbledon Final?

Tickets for the Wimbledon Final can be obtained through a public ballot, which you can enter for free and will randomly assign tickets to entrants. The ballot has to be entered well before the tournament is played, and it’s now closed for 2023.

Thankfully, if you didn’t enter the ballot, or you did but missed out on final tickets, then you can still purchase tickets in advance through Wimbledon’s official hospitality provider.

It is also possible to purchase tickets on the day while you’re in the queue, but this is a riskier option, as it might be difficult to get enough tickets or ones that are in good seats. You might also end up spending more on your tickets if you buy them at the last minute.

So, if you want to watch live, you should maybe consider a less popular match or get yourself signed up for next year’s public ballot as soon as it’s open.

FAQs

Where is the Wimbledon Final 2023?

Known as the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, Wimbledon’s tennis arena is in the beautiful London suburb of Wimbledon, SW19. The men’s final is held on the centre court, an expansive space where thousands of spectators can enjoy the nail-biting finale of this fast-paced and exhilarating tournament.

Where Can I Watch the Wimbledon Final 2023?

In the UK, viewers can watch the Wimbledon Final live on BBC One, BBC Two and its Red Button service. The BBC World Service also hosts regular updates on the tournament, and tennis fans who don’t live in the UK can also see the action live by using ESPN or any streaming service that hosts the channel. You’ll also be able to watch highlights after the event but stay off social media to avoid spoilers if you use this approach.

Do You Need a Ticket to Go to Wimbledon?

The short answer is yes: you always need a ticket or a show court pass to enter Wimbledon and watch the matches. If you don’t have a ticket, then you can watch it online or on TV.

Alternatively, some areas, particularly around Wimbledon and across London, sometimes have large outdoor screens showing the major matches, like the men’s and women’s singles and doubles finals. These screens are usually free to watch and can be a fun and cost-effective way to see the action.

How is a Wimbledon Final Scored?

The Wimbledon Final is scored using the traditional tennis scoring system, which splits each match into games, sets and the full match. A game is played until one player hits 4 points, and a set is a collection of games, which is played until one player wins 6 games or more.

A match is made up of 5 sets, and once in the Wimbledon Final, the player who wins the match wins the tournament.

Points are scored as 15, 30 and 40- once you get to 40, you have to win the match point to win the game. If you hit 40-40, then you are in a deuce and are tied until one player wins the final point.
